Is the word "mansion" mentioned in the book of Revelation? Is this word used anywhere except in John 14?
The word translated in the King James Version as “mansion” in John 14:2 (sometimes also translated “rooms” or “dwelling places”) is only used in one other place in the New Testament, and that is in the same chapter. “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (John 14:23) The word “abode” in that verse is the same as in verse 2. The word simply means a dwelling. It is, however, the Greek word from which we get the word “mansion.”
The word is not used in the Revelation. Since that book doesn’t deal with a description of heaven (except maybe in the last two chapters) there is no reason for it to be in the book. Even if the last two chapters are a description of heaven they don’t go into such detail as where our changed bodies will dwell.
