What is a woman’s role in life? How is she supposed to be?

When God created woman he defined one of her roles. “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18) So from the beginning, a woman’s role is to be a suitable helper for man. She is not a slave, because that would not be suitable. She is a helper.
Another role given woman from the beginning has been child bearing. “Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28) Note that this command is not to the woman only, but also the man. While a woman bears and raises children, the father should have a role in their upbringing.
Perhaps the best description of a woman’s role was written by a King Lemuel, and is found in Proverbs 31:10-31. Please read that. In this passage, the king describes a woman of great value as one who is a great help to her husband, but is also independent and intelligent.
