What Does the Bible Say About..Two Witnesses?

The Bible talks about end-times regarding the two witnesses. Who are they?

Answer

The only reference to two witnesses I could find (other than the legal requirement) was at Revelation 11:3. Since the Revelation is not talking about the end of the world, then I know of no reference to two witnesses regarding the end-times.

The Revelation is not clear who the two witnesses are. There is a mention of them being “olive trees” and “candlesticks.” The only other reference to two olive trees as representing people is in Zechariah 4. There it is talking about “the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.” (Zechariah 4:14) Thus they would represent the High Priest and the Prince of Judah. In all likelihood the reference in the Revelation is the same. Thus Revelation 11 would be foretelling the destruction of Jerusalem, not the end of the world. This idea is enhanced by the mention five times in the book that the things in it were soon to happen.
