A Bible class teacher was doing lessons on animals used figuratively in the New Testament. He commented that most of the songs we sing, that have animals in them, are about sheep and the shepherd. So I spent the class writing this song.
[Piano version of music] [Video sung by composer] [Vocal sound file] [Score of song]
The Master walked along the shore
And saw some men afloat.
He begged them follow in his steps
And leave their nets in the boat.
Chorus: Come follow me
And ye shall be
Fishers of men, fishers of men.
No nets will you use
But words of God
To bring them in, to bring them in.
They left their nets and followed him
To bring a catch of men.
They cast the gospel of the Lord
And many came therein.
Chorus: Come follow me
And ye shall be
Fishers of men, fishers of men.
No nets will you use
But words of God
To bring them in, to bring them in.
And so we fish for men today.
The gospel is our net.
We cast it out and know not how,
But many souls we get.
Chorus: Come follow me
And ye shall be
Fishers of men, fishers of men.
No nets will you use
But words of God
To bring them in, to bring them in.
